Recreational Therapy for Addiction

How Recreational Therapy for Addiction is Used?

Depending on the length of the addiction, the drug that a user is abusing has the tendency to ‘rewire’ the brain to obtain that drug above all else. The enjoyment of anything else tends to not be as exciting or as enjoyable as the drug the person is addicted to. One of the goals of drug addiction treatment is to expose the addict to activities without the drug. Recreational therapy for addiction focuses on reconnecting the addict with themselves, others, and the fun-loving child that exists within. These recreational activities can range from painting and drawing to BBQs or picnics.

We Level Up TX helps clients obtain critical knowledge useful in their recovery. Rehab activities introduced to clients aid their treatment and rehabilitation process. Such rehab treatment activities are part of the overall comprehensive addiction treatment provided. We Level Up rehab centers offer top-rated treatment activities. These are integrated as a treatment technique that is often employed with people to overcome both physical addictions and emotional issues.

Benefits of Recreational Therapy for Addiction

We Level Up Texas treatment center offers some of the most comprehensive dual-diagnosis substance abuse & mental health treatment in the country. Our treatment center applies primary addiction behavioral health treatment programs using best clinical practices to hold your treatment team accountable for adhering to the highest standards of drug and alcohol abuse modalities. Located in Texas, We Level Up specializes in primary substance abuse treatment along with secondary co-occurring mental health therapy. Offering functional recovery activities and modalities for clients requiring personalized treatment models and other clinical services.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 7.9 million adults suffered from co-occurring disorders in 2014. [1] We now know that for many clients their development of addiction may have come about as a response to secondary mental health issues left untreated.  For this reason, the treatment community recognizes that long-term recovery does not come in a one-size-fits-all program.

First, each client, upon arrival at our TX drug treatment center, undergoes an extensive and comprehensive physical and psychological exam. These exams are conducted by our team of physicians, counselors, and mental health specialists. Together your clinical team will determine the whole of your underlying issues for proper treatment. After that, a customized individualized treatment plan is devised. And where appropriate, integrated dual-diagnosis co-occurring treatment for secondary related mental health disorders is incorporated.

Client med pass occurs multiple times per day. Patients are evaluated by nursing staff, receive detox progress evaluation. And have their vitals taken along with the provision of prescribed medications. Once clients are medically stable, they may progress to a residential level of care. At this level of care, clients now see medical staff twice per week (unless required more often) and they are required to attend both one-on-one and group recreational therapy for addiction sessions.
